Great Review of Heavenly Revenge

Review of Heavenly Revenge

I’d love you to check out Lisa Adam’s Blogspot, Pen the Dream. She’s written a great review of Heavenly Revenge and has explained the difference between erotica and erotic romance very well.

Here’s part of her review:

The Plot:

And here comes the unusual. Our heroine is dead. Yep, you heard me. And I’m not giving away anything here because you figure that out in the first two pages of the book. But, she wasn’t supposed to die yet. Heaven’s not ready for her. So, she has two choices. Hang around Earth haunting people, including her cheating-ex, or go live life in an alternate universe and save the world. Um… hello? Bad-ass chick check… SAVE THE WORLD!
The hero? An arrogant king, who is at war with neighbors and believes her to be a spy. Can we say punishment 🙂

The Verdict:

I’m really on the fence about this one. The ending was spectacular. An assured happily ever after and what not. But the first meeting of this pair is rather rough and hard to take. The first sexual encounter happens early in the book, but it isn’t under the best of terms. There was that moment that I almost put the book down because I thought it was too close to unwanted sex. (I’m so glad I didn’t!) In fact the heroine keeps telling him to stop & he keeps persisting until finally she gives in and he has his way with her. Now, she enjoys every bit of it & even urges him to continue. The games continue throughout the rest of the book, and it is an enthralling read, but that first scene was rough. So, I’ve thought a lot about it and I have to say this is….

We Sultry Scribes haven’t been able to get together lately, which has caused us to be distinctly uncreative in our flash fiction. So for something different from me, here’s the start of a few snippets from Heavenly Revenge:

Chapter One

“The poor, wee girl. Rose, Rose, can you hear me, love?”

Rose’s eyelids fluttered. A stark, white light stabbed into her eyes and she shut them again. But in that brief glimpse, she’d seen the blurry faces of two women peering down at her.

“Rose, are you with us, pet? Open your eyes, there’s a good girl. You don’t have much time.”

“Rose!” The other woman spoke this time, sharper in tone. Rose opened her eyes and studied the faces bent over her. Both were older women, about seventy perhaps, with fly-away white hair and white flowing gowns. As Rose struggled to her feet, they broke out in relieved smiles.

“Good girl. Och, Wilma, she looks so pale, the poor lassie.”

Everyone who comes here is pale, Lily. I wish you would strive to be less foolish.”

“All I said—”

During this exchange, Rose glanced around at her surroundings, and recognized nothing. Flat, barren land, seared in that glaring white light, stretched to every mist shrouded horizon. Not another living thing in sight. She breathed in the cool, pure air, and frowned at the strange, spongy surface beneath her.

“Where the hell am I?”

Both ladies regarded her with shocked expressions, and the one whose name seemed to be Wilma said, “Now, now, Rose. This isn’t the best place to be using bad language.”

Rose blinked. “I’m sorry. I meant—where am I? And who are you? How do you know my name?”

“My name is Wilma and this is Lily,” the taller woman answered. Lily beamed, her pale blue eyes warm and welcoming behind her glasses. Rose found herself smiling in return. Wilma continued. “You’re dead. You’re outside the gates of Heaven, but you aren’t allowed to go in.”
